Like nearly everything in your body, your hair is made of atoms forged inside ancient stars that lived and died billions of years ago.

Scientifically speaking, hair is built mostly of keratin, but the elements that form it, were all created through stellar nuclear fusion inside massive stars. When those stars reached the end of their lives, they scattered their elements across the cosmos. Those elements drifted. They gathered. They formed worlds, oceans, cells — and YOU.

Stardust Strands are very fine, sparkly hair extensions that are securely tied to an individual strand of your hair.

Each extension creates two strands when applied…and I always tie one extra extension for good luck! Cash or Venmo payments accepted.

Shooting Star Effect: A Subtle Spark of Magic

  • Although many people claim that these extensions are made of Thai Silk, this is just a fancy term for synthetic polyester thread. This is what makes them heat resistant! Real silk would melt when heat is applied. The sparkle extensions that I purchase are also made from 100% Thai Silk (but now you know what that means!)

  • Each month, beneath the glow of the full moon, every strand of stardust is moon-bathed. This ritual allows me to set the intention of believing in magic. I hope that when you see your hair catch the light, you feel that intention too. It’s the same feeling as knowing a chocolate chip cookie was made with love. Instead of just feeding you, it feeds your soul.

  • If possible, your hair should be freshly washed, dried and brushed. This helps to remove hairs that are at the end of their lifecycle. Removing loose hair beforehand helps to ensure that sparkle extensions are being tied to healthy hair, which makes them last longer. That said, this is not always possible if you are visiting me at a pop-up event or party.

  • Sparkle extensions are considered temporary but can last anywhere from a day to a year! It is most common for adults that your extensions stay in for 1-3 months. For children, they typically last 2-3 weeks.

  • I use the tie-method, which lasts longer and causes less damage than using tape, beads or glue. I have practiced to make the tiniest most undetectable knot possible to attach the extension to just one strand of hair. The strand will last for the hair shed cycle. So if you have fine hair or your hair sheds more frequently (like with kids) they will not last as long. If the hair was going to shed that day, the extension will go with it!

  • Honestly I don’t BUT if you had to, you could pick at the knot until it loosens up enough to slide off of the hair. I find this is easier when your hair is wet and conditioned in the shower. Luckily, the extensions are only tied onto one hair, unlike tape, beads or glue, so if you pulled the hair out with the extensions, it is only one hair instead of 5-12 and you won’t need any solvents to dissolve glue gunk either!

  • Treat your strands just as you would the rest of your hair! You can dye, cut, brush, dry, wash, curl, or straighten your hair! Threads can withstand heat of up to 400 degrees. Heavy brushing and combing can cause more hair shed.  Also, if you pick at or play with your hair, this can cause more hair shed too. But don’t worry, I always add one extra strand for good luck and you can always schedule another appointment for more!
